By Goddess Mia
*I wrote this a week after the elections at 3am, like the ancestors were guiding my pen. Nervous or not, I had to share itβthis piece is raw, real, and filled with purpose. Listen close, especially my Black people near and far. Remember who we are.*
Black people β we have heard this before, but let me say it again...
We are the architects ποΈ.
The builders π οΈ.
The movers, the shakers π.
The trendsetters ππΎ.
The eye-openers ποΈ.
The truth seekers and the truth speakers π.
Remember who you are... π
We are the light βοΈ
And the dark π
The sun π
And the moon π
We move mountains β°οΈ
We shake the Earth π
We walk through chaos πͺοΈ
And rise through fire π₯
Remember who you are. π
We are the nurturers π€²πΎ
The caregivers β€οΈ
We are love π
We are grace ποΈ
We are a force that cannot be stopped π
We are the beginning β Mitochondrial Eve π
We are the end β Phoenix energy π₯ποΈ
We carry in our blood the blueprint of life π§¬
Our DNA etched with the spark of creation β¨
We are the cosmic womb π
Our energy knows no bounds β it flows beyond time and space β³
Beyond galaxies π
Remember who you are... π
This code lives in us π
Passed down through generations πͺΆ
Our history is alive β breathed into the world through our storytelling π£οΈ
We hold the key π
We are the keepers of true history π
Remember who you are. π
We walk in our purpose π€οΈ
Because the lioness π¦ does not concern herself with ants π
She lifts up β¬οΈ
She leads π
She builds a future ποΈ
And guides the pride to flourish πΊ
The lion π¦ also does not concern himself with ants π
He watches over his pride β protects its youth πΌ
Stands guard π‘οΈ to ensure the prideβs future π
The pride? π¦
It does not waste its energy on ants π
It protects its own π‘οΈ
It ensures legacy πͺ·
It guards tomorrow π
So as we rest π
As we breathe π¬οΈ
Let us teach our children π§πΎπ¦πΎ
The lessons of the ancestors πͺΆ
The wisdom of the elders πΏ
Teach them courage and resilience πͺπΎ
Show them what love for our people is β€οΈ
Show them what our spiritual connection is β¨
Teach them who they are π
And to those who try to erase us π
Try to shrink us
Try to silence us π€
Hear this:
You cannot erase what was written in stardust π
You cannot burn what was born of fire π₯
You cannot break what refuses to bow πΉ
We donβt rise in spite of you β
We rise because genetically weβre BUILT TO π§¬
And it burns you π₯
No matter how much you try to keep the foot on our necks π£
The magick in our DNA refuses to let you β¨
You know exactly who we are π
We do not breathe to the ignorant π«
Do not give ground to the racist π«
That plan they have carried for centuries π?
Itβs tired π΄
Itβs crumbling ποΈ
And through it all β from slavery βοΈ to police brutality π β
Still, we rise and multiply π±
We will not fall βπΎ
We are LOUDER π’
STRONGER πͺπΎ
And generationally WISER π¦
So I say these words,
From the lips of the ancestors πͺΆ
To the ears of my people near and far π:
Remember who we are... π
For the ancestors πͺΆ
For the elders πΏ
For the babies watching us now πΆπΎ β
Remember.
Who.
We.
Are. βπΎβ¨
