♀️ Erased in Plain Sight: Stop using 'Underage women'. They are girls.
When language hides the truth, survivors suffer twice. It’s time to reclaim their story.
By Goddess Mia
The media’s frequent use of the phrase “underage women” to describe Jeffrey Epstein’s victims is not just sloppy—it’s deliberately euphemistic. When headlines claim he trafficked “underage women,” they’re masking the reality: these were girls—minors—some as young as 14. You cannot be underage and a woman. It’s grammatically and morally absurd .
🚩 Why It Matters:
It minimizes sexual violence. Calling them “underage women” suggests agency. But minors can’t consent—this was systematic child rape and child sex trafficking .
It sanitizes predators. When news outlets say Epstein engaged in sex with “underage women,” it frames the acts as consensual, not criminal.
It erases identity. These victims aren’t statistics. They’re children whose trauma is invalidated by language that strips them of their youth and dignity .
🗣️ The Fix Is Simple:
Use accurate, powerful language:
“Girls”
“Minors”
“Child sex trafficking victims”
News outlets—ahem, I’m looking at you NY Times, CNN, Fox, NBC and CBS—need to stop hiding behind vague terms and call it what it is: child sexual abuse.
📌 Receipts:
The Atlantic headlined it “The Myth of the ‘Underage Woman’” and slammed it as erasure of girls .
Houston Chronicle: “The oxymoron hides that this is a case about systematic, serial child rape” .
Idaho Public News Service & PACT emphasized dozens of outlets used that term despite victims being as young as 14 .
Northern Public Radio: “There is no such thing as sex with a child… language obfuscates the crime” .
✨👑 Goddess Call to Action:
If this truth hit your spirit, don’t just sit with it—rise with it.
The language they use is designed to protect predators. My words are here to protect the truth.
